Supporting your immune system is a year-round commitment, not a knee-jerk reaction in times of crisis. However, anytime is a great time to start!
The immune system relies on many nutrients to do its job. This program has been intentionally designed to include a wide variety of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to support the immune system.
Key nutrients include vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc and selenium.
A couple notes:
- Choose organic and local produce when possible, especially organic if produce on the “dirty dozen” list from ewg.org
- If eating bread, choose organic whole grains that have been sprouted or fermented (sourdough). My favourite commercial brands are Silver Hills Sprouted, Ezekial Bread, and Alive and Rise Sourdough, or better yet visit your local artisan bakery for a long fermented sourdough or make your own!
- A quick note on soy; I’m not a fan unless organic and fermented. There is a meal with tofu to give a vegetarian option. Feel free to substitute chicken, consider tempeh if you prefer to keep it plant based, or don’t worry about it, purchase organic and keep soy consumption low 🙂 Less stress around food the better!
