Since I’ve posted the simple mayonnaise recipe and video, I posted a short embarrassing confession on Facebook about trash talking my beautiful new red blender.
In case it’s not clear enough yet to y’all, technology of ANY kind is not my thing. Without hubby or kids around to help me I don’t even get Netflix going.
Here’s my latest move:
In my last Facebook post I tagged Brown’s Socialhouse in Kelowna because we watched the tail end of the Superbowl game there.
I mean, that’s what you do to promote a local business, right? Tag them?
Just trying to be an active part of my local community.
The next morning I realized that by tagging them, my silly post and ridiculous video was on the official Browns Socialhouse Harvey Facebook page.
For the last 12 hours.
Anyone else may have known that by tagging them this would happen. I did not. Clearly.
Thankfully my daughter discovered this and promptly untagged them. Not sure if anyone noticed it there sticking out like sore thumb amongst other posts of beautiful meals and happy looking guests.
I’m sorry Browns.
All right. Someone stop me now before my family disowns me.
Let’s get back to mayonnaise and dressings, shall we.
I mentioned that I use the mayo as a base for dressings and dips, so here are two of my family’s favourites: Caesar Dressing and Ranch Dip (which can be thinned down to a dressing of course.) As with all my recipes, I give some variations – nothing I make is always the exact same. I’m still tweaking a coleslaw dressing but it’s not quite there yet. Will follow up with that later.
• 1 tsp. dried parsley
• 1 tsp. dried dill
• 1 tsp. unrefined salt
• ¾ tsp. black pepper
• ½ tsp. garlic powder
• ¼ tsp. onion powder
• ¼ tsp. dried thyme
• 1 cup homemade mayonnaise
• 1 cup homemade yogurt or sour cream (on my Facebook page, or email me)
Stir all ingredients together and allow to sit for several hours before serving to allow flavours to blend.
If using delicious fresh herbs (Hello summer!) instead of dried, chop very fine and use 3 times the amount listed.
To make Ranch Dressing substitute some of the yogurt or sour cream with buttermilk or cream to reach desired consistency.
• 2 garlic cloves, minced
• 2 tbsp. lemon juice
• 1 tsp. Dijon mustard (or mustard powder)
• 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
• 1 cup homemade mayonnaise (or ½ cup mayo, ½ cup yogurt)
• ½ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
• ¼ tsp. salt (or to taste)
• ¼ tsp. pepper (or to taste)
Stir all ingredients together, chill for several hours before serving to allow flavours to blend.
